Getting started
Add the bot, create your first event, and know where to find things. About ten minutes.
1. Add the bot
Add Axis Manager to your server from Discord. There is no setup call or approval step first.
Then check two things:
- The bot's role sits above every role it needs to give out (lobby, stage, waitlist, captain). Drag it up in Server Settings → Roles.
- The bot can View Channel, Send Messages, Read Message History and Embed Links in the channels you will use, plus Manage Roles. To open and close the registration channel on a schedule it also needs Manage Channels there.
The bot does not create channels or roles for you. Make them first, then point the event at them.
2. Tournament or scrim?
You choose when you create the event. If you are unsure, read the table.
| Tournament | Scrim | |
|---|---|---|
| Runs for | Weeks, in stages (group stage, finals) | Repeats on the weekdays you pick, with no end |
| Teams register with | A locked roster snapshot | A name, a tag and managers. No roster |
| Seating | You approve each team into a lobby, or turn on auto-accept | First come first served, with VIP seats and a waitlist |
| Attendance | One confirmation window per stage | A confirmation window every scrim day |
| Scoring | One workbook with a tab for each stage lobby | One workbook with a tab per lobby, cleared and reused |
| Ends | You end it on the final stage | Never. You clear the day and it rolls on |
| Good for | Leagues, cups, qualifiers | Daily or weekly practice lobbies |
3. Prepare your channels and roles
Tournament
- A dashboard channel (staff only) for the pinned control message.
- A registration channel and an approval channel.
- One slot-list channel per lobby. Teams confirm attendance there.
- Optional: an event admin role (up to three), a waitlist role, stage roles and lobby roles.
Scrim
- A dashboard channel (staff only) for the pinned control message.
- A registration channel, and optionally a waitlist channel and a notification channel.
- One lobby channel per lobby (up to three) for the slot list and confirmation. An admin channel for the lobby control panels.
- Roles: a registration role (who can see and type in the registration channel when it opens), one lobby captain role per lobby, and a waitlist role. A ban role and a VIP role are optional.
4. Create the event
Only the server owner or someone with Administrator can create an event. Creating events happens in Discord.
- In your server, run
/create event. - Set type to Tournament or Scrim.
- Type an event_name and pick the dashboard_channel.
- The bot posts a pinned dashboard in that channel. That message is your control panel.
The Free plan runs one tournament and one scrim at a time. See Plans and credits.
5. Configure it
In Discord
Open the pinned dashboard. Under Configure… go through each section in order. A Setup still needed list on the message tells you what is missing.
Tournament
Sections: Tournament, Registration, Confirmation, Stages, Scoring, Send message.
Scrim
Sections: General, Lobbies and seats, Channels, Roles, Schedule, Messages, Options, Bans, VIP grants, Scoring. A scrim stays off until you press Enable.
On the web dashboard
Go to manager.axis-labs.xyz and sign in with Discord. Pick your server, then your event. You see the same settings, arranged as tabs. The Overview tab lists what the bot still needs.
Tournament
Tabs: Overview, Tournament, Activity, Registration, Confirmation, Stages, Teams, Auto Score, Results.
Scrim
Tabs: Overview, Lobbies, Bans, VIP grants, Runs, Activity, Scrim, Lobbies and seats, Channels, Roles, Schedule, Messages, Options, Auto Score, Results.
You can only see servers where you are the owner, an Administrator, or hold the event admin role.
